Reclaiming The Hood Campaign

Invest in the future of black communities

As long time residents of the Chicago Lawn community we have seen the trend of disinvestment. We seen schools close, businesses leave, movie theaters close, and events leave our community. From the recent Black Lives Matter movement that swept the world TGi has been inspired to create the Reclaiming The Hood Campaign. We will be providing opportunities and raising money to bring more black businesses and community spaces into our community for people to connect and utilize resources. This is the first part of our 4-year plan to transform our community into an Oasis for people of color and to replicate this model for other communities.

In the News!

Since 2016, TGi’s outreach efforts and mission related activities cover the Chicago neighborhoods of Englewood, Chicago Lawn and Gage Park – all of which are besieged by violence, gang activity, and lack of resources. Typically, the youth we see struggle daily to nourish their bodies, stay in school, and avoid violence/gang activity. TGi uses unique urban youth activities, experiential learning tactics and mentoring to help them choose/maintain more positive, peaceful and productive lives.
